Biography:
From the small rural town of Troy, Pennsylvania, Sydney Blade is a graduate of Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania in May of 2012. Her four years of undergraduate study earned her a Bachelor's of Music degree in Music Education with a concentration in Voice and a certification in K-12 Music Education. There, she studied Voice under the private instruction of Dr. Alissa Rose.
Though young in her career, Ms. Blade has had the opportunity to perform in many university and community productions in the fields of Opera, Drama, and Musical Theater. Her most recent opera roles include "Third Spirit" in Mozart's The Magic Flute, "Cherubino" in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro (both performed in English), and "Ms. Pinkerton" in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief. All of these roles were performed with Mansfield University Opera Theater.
Recent Musical Theater roles include "Lucy" in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown with Arcadia Productions in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, "Hilda" in Plain and Fancy with Hamilton Gibson Productions, as well as "KC Downing" in My Favorite Year and "Florinda" in Into the Woods with Mansfield University Music Theater.
Being versatile in her experiences, Ms. Blade has also had many opportunities to perform with the Mansfield University Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Peggy Dettwiler. Her involvement has provided her with prestigious opportunities including but not limited to performing as a member of the "Choir of Angels" in the NYC Premiere of Eric Whitacre's Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings in Carnegie Hall in 2009 and being awarded a gold medal in the Women's Choir Category as a member of the Mansfield University Women's Choir at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod 2011 in Llangollen, Wales.
